So I’ll start my first blog in regards to one of my favorite material possessions in the world- HANDBAGS! Ever since I was a little girl, I LOVED wearing purses! As years went by, I quickly learned that those purses weren’t what I thought they were growing up. They were HANDBAGS. How dare I undermine them! They make girls feel like ladies. They make -or- break our outfits. They make for the best accessories. I don’t discriminate when it comes to brands and have a wide range and plural versions of: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Gucci, Miu Miu, Fendi, Dior, and Céline. I will go into depth about the other ones I own, but today, I will focus on the latest arrival. The newest baby to my collection is the Céline Trapeze multicolor in the classic white and black.
I first met this new love of my life in Tokyo a few months back, in September 2012, while my husband and I were on vacation. We were walking around the “Champs-Elysees” of Tokyo when I made eye contact with a beautiful Céline piece that this gorgeous Japanese lady was sporting. A few minutes later, and just a few blocks away, we walked into the Céline boutique. HEAVEN! I fell in love with their unique shapes and concepts. The totes they had were a little too big for me and so were the large sized Céline Trapeze. Sadly, they were out of the medium one, but told me I could order it. Since they didn’t have one in the back for me to try on, I didn’t want to take the risk and order it overseas when I didn’t even get to see how it would look on me. They told me that there were only two cities that had boutiques in the U.S. – New York and Miami.
Once we got back, I learned that they were opening a Céline boutique on Rodeo Drive but not until later on in 2013 (just FYI-it is now open!) There was no way I was going to wait until then to get one. When I want something, I want it, and can’t get it out of my mind until I have it. To my excitement, I also learned that Barneys carried a selection and so did Neiman Marcus. However, when I went to Barney’s, they told me that whatever color they had, I had to get because they were selling out very quickly. I felt like I was at Hermes dealing with a Birkin – which made me even more excited! But I wasn’t feeling the color choices. So, I went to my beloved Neimans, and my saleslady told me that they only had one in the back. When she brought it out, and revealed the colors – Black and White – I was in LOVE. As many handbags as I own, I only own one other black one – believe it or not. I was sold! And so was that bag! I finally had my baby in my arms and now in my closet.
It’s crazy how many celebrities are carrying the bag now. I find it so interesting about how you don’t hear about something, and then once you do, you find it popping up all around you. My next Céline will be the Nano cross body, considering that the original Luggage Tote is too big for me. Or you never know – I might just a find a way to sport the bigger ones! As much as I’m in love with oversized sunglasses – I might as well fall in love with oversized handbags!
